Started a new concrete project. My cascading stream was leaking so I tore it out and am in the process of building a sluiceway from waterwheel down to the aqueduct. The sluiceway or flue is 100% concrete as is the aqueduct, which has been around about 7 years, surviving the largest earthquake in virginia's history as well as wintertime. There's no liner involved at all btw.
I empty the aqueduct around early Nov and fill it around Apr1; this year I filled it end of March b/c forecast called for low of 38; next morning found out the forcast was wrong and ice was so thick you could walk on aqueduct. I was amazed there were no cracks
