I am trying to hide my 55 gal filter. It is located behind my waterfall but it is in the corner of my fence which recives no sunlight. Is there any type of tall grasses that need no sunlight so i can hide the filter?

There are many plants that require little light to do well. I use wirey vine that grows very fast, requires little maintenance and covers everything. For an example, go to my web site and look at mine.

You can camo the barrel with a few cans of spray paint to help it fade into the fence
and a few potted plants hung off the top rim of the barrel that flowed down around it

well most grasses need to be cut back in the autumn so it would show again then, thats if you could even get grasses that tall, pampus grass would ,you could try putting a bit more fencing in front of it lots have done things like that

You could use some ferns it would soften things
And as DrDave suggested start some bamboo the tall canes would help a lot

I have in total shade , ligularia , maidenhair fern and Japanese painted fern, also Japanese forest grass is supposed to like shade, mine is in part sun so I can't vouch for total shade for it.
