I have a 1500gal pond which I have a pool sand filter.I have found out that sand is not the best media to use because it clogs up to easy.Is there a better media to use in the sand filter besides sand.

yes, sand filters are horrible for ponds. you can use beads or plastic media, but I'm not sure if your filter can handle that inside it.

Basically, you don't use pool filters for ponds and you don't use pond filters for pools. They function differently and the requirements in pumps are different. They are not intertangeable.

Sorry!

yes, because sand clumps and doesn't release the detrius/poop easily. It's hard to clean and becomes heavy when wet--sort of the opposite of what you want in a filter media. Plus, it's not the greatest builder of bacteria either--too small.

You'll need to find out if you can put something else into your filter other than sand, like plastic beads and such.
