can someone recommend a nontoxic climbing vine(zone 6 ohio) for a trellis around pond?- need to block sun- had english ivy there- then realized fish were eating toxic leaves as they fell into pond-killing them

Honeysuckle? It's woody, but some varieties do take over chain link fencing, so I know it will climb to some extent. Smells delightful.

Honeysuckle would attract lots of fun Hummingbirds! Climbing Roses would be beautiful also. Do you want a vine that will provide shade only in the hot Summer or do you want one that keeps it's leaves all year long?
