Does anyone know which rocks are not good to have in a pond based on their geological makeup? I am thinking specifically of some shale type rock I found and used in my waterfall?

It is a soft rock, gets mushy then poof gone. Can you break it easy? or scratch it easy? we can with ours.

Good question. Obviously, limestone would be a no-no, but I don't know about others.
