I know this is a really stupid question, sorry but, I'm new...to the world actually lol
Anyway, when I open a thread that I want to post in, posts from 2008 come up, can that be changed to be the most recent posts and the how do you start another post on that subject?? Told ya...

When you are new, a lot of old post will show up as unread, since you have never read them, a lot are old.
Below where you are posting are a collection of other posts about similar subjects.

To start your own post just click on a forum you want to post in and then click on post new thread.

You can clean out old threads by marking threads read.

@Jeanie master When you say that you open a thread that you want to post in, are you getting to that thread via a search of the forum? Or how are you finding that thread? Is it one of the posts, bottom of page like @addy1 mentioned? And if you open a thread from 2008, there may not be any replies since then.

And it's OK to start a thread with the same name as an old one.

@addy1 Some forums let you "order" posts within a thread by oldest first, and vice versa. Does GPF have that ability? Not sure if that's what she means or not.....

That's what I mean. If the posts in any given thread would open with the most recent first. When I open a thread because it looks interesting, at first I didn't realize it was from years ago. Just wondered if it's a setting or what?

We'll see what @addy1 says. I know that some forums do have that as an option you can set, and it keeps you from having to scroll down to the bottom.

Keyword searches don't always work for me. Have you used the "search" function yet?

Type in "frogs" and you'll get to your search results. If there are a lot of entries with "frogs," then you'll have to go through several pages -- I just did it and there are 10 pages, listed newest to oldest. Sometimes you have to change the search keyword. Does that help at all? Oh, and if it's something you've seen fairly recently, you can flip back through the pages on the "new posts" page to search more recent threads by date.

Topics: a specific area of interest "General Chat" or "introductions"
Thread: posted under a topic, with a title and is relating to more specific info like "reading threads"
Post: are the individual notes that each person contributes to a thread. You are reading my post, under your thread, under the topic "general chat."

In case you haven't noticed, each post within a thread is numbered. This is a reference in case you want to point something out and there are a gazillion posts.... Look at the lower right, that's the ghosted number next to "like" and "reply."

I usually click on new posts, it takes me to the last post I read. Not the most recent post of the thread. That way you don't miss what others have posted in that thread since you read it.
