Did you get this resolved? I have the same problem in a 125 gallon pond.

A tea color is not bad, as long as it is clear. If the color bothers you add an activated charcoal filter, it will remove the color in a day.

Interesting, I had the same problem with mine and was told that they were getting too much sun. I'm in full sun. Then we got a month of rain and they are back to green. Mine also get a shade of purple to them too.:banghead3:

if you have an open top filter, put them in there for a few days.. they get a constant flow of nutrients and a chance for the roots to recoop if your fish have been excessively nibbling! good idea to leave some there anyway to catch some nutrients before they hit the pond. and help hide your plumbing in open top filters that are part of the waterfall.

I put water hyacinth in the outflow of my bio filter waterfall and they grew into monsters in not time at all. I was shocked at the size of them when I noticed they were starting to block the flow of water.

When I got mine they weren't in the best of shape. I tried the miracle grow, didn't notice much of a difference. Trimmed off any leaves that were turning brown (which was unfortunatly half the plants) and placed them in slow moving areas (two of them I actually tied to a rock with some fishing line) and within a week they exploded. Going to have to throw some of them into the compost pile soon. They do not do well at all when water splashes on them (under a waterfall, near a fountain)..at least from my experiences.

I would just trim any leaves that are yellowing/browning, but of course make sure your not trimming ALL the leaves.

In time they were turn back to green. Mine are health now with out doing anything to them. They have over taken my pond, so I have to give some away.

I quit messing with Hyacinth, too unpredicatable, They either take over or they are turning brown. I always had to spend time trimming the brown bulbes off as well. Water lettuce is zero maintenance except to remove the excess.

I have both in my pond now, just has the lettuce added. The hyacinth, once i worked out the whole "keep it out of the splash zone" thing, literally did explode in numbers. Got home from work today and noticed 6 more offshoots. Wondering which is gonna take over faster.
