i find that i can pay anywhere from $50 to $150 for a ~1000 gph pump. common sense says that the $150 unit might be the best, but what do you pay for one thats "good enough"....meaning reasonable life and reasonably easy to get parts?

webbs online has good prices also and couple of people buy from them on here .I only have cheapy harbor freight pumps and they work ok .Remember #1 thing you want is a good long warranty even if you have to buy it .And always get a slightly bigger gph pump as you can always use some of the water for a waterfall and the rest for the filter

I would recommend an ES-3500. You can get one from Birdman. They are great pumps. You can pinch down the output to around 2000GPH with no problem. Then, if the bug hits you, you have a pump that's bigger if you dig bigger.

remember you are not only concerned with gph but power consumption and ease of getting it fixed if something goes wrong I always use 2 pumps one dies i have back up .In the heat of summer you don't want to be in a pickle .
