As indicated in my other thread, I'm shopping for a new pump. In doing so, I've been reviewing the other equipment my son installed in 2008. I know our old pump was rated around 4200 GPH at 5', and the literature for our NitraMAX 10000 filter seems to suggest a similar sized pump. What has me confused is that the manual then lists a "Flow Rate" for the filter at 65 GPH.... Is the filter putting that much pressure on the line, reducing the flow from 4200 GPH to 65 ??? or does the 65 GPH flow rate refer to something else?

that flow rate would probably be GPM (gallons per minute) they suggest a 39000 gph pump for your filter maximun flow.. divide that at by 60 (minutes in an hour) =65gpm. so you run 3900 gph thru the filter and anything over that bypass the filter directly to falls (river)...
