I wanted to try to get a more precise number of my pond volume. I have different levels of depth and the size is not round or a true rectangle. It is not a really big pond but wanted to know the exact volume or a close as possible and was wondering if any of you could help.

Here are measurements:
4' 6" X 3' 6" x 24"
4' x 2' x 16"
1' x 3' x 10"

when i first filled mine with water, i timed how long it took my hose pipe to fill a 1 litre bottle then timed how long it took to fill my pond, but this is only applicable if you are doing a full fill up,

Take those three measurements, get the volume of each one and add them together = volume of your pond.

Gallonage using salt
Salinity:
1 # of salt will raise 12 gallons of water to 1%
1# of salt will raise 100 gallons of water .12%
To calculate water volume using salt:
1) Measure salinity with calibrated meter before adding salt.
2) Add 1 pound of salt for each 100 gallons of estimated gallonage (guess)
3) Measure salinity after salt has had a chance to dissolve and circulate
4) Subtract initial salinity reading from second reading
5) multiply the lbs of salt added by 12
6) divide the result above by the % salinity changed
7) This is US gallons.

I used what is called a water meter I got it at lowes and it goes on the end of your hose and just clicks off gallons not sure how accurate it is but close I guess ..Or better yet I found it was better if you connected it to your water line coming out of your house and then connect your hose to it .The directions on it were 2 pics of hose and the adapter ,not much info at all.Not sure they sell it yet I bought mine 4 years ago .

not sure how accurate they are but at least it's close enough to give you an idea .Now I use it for my water soluble fertilizer in my back pack pump sprayer so I know how much water to add to fertilizer
