I took a quick video of My pond Today and was going to put it in the showcase but I figured I could also get some feedback, I was wondering why all the water lillies are rising out of the water, overcrowding?

I've thinned them a little this afternoon but don't want to take all the shade away from the fish.

I've also noticed bugs (caterpillars I think) eating the leaves once they get above water level so I need to fix this asap I'm guessing.

There's a wide range of growing habit from tiny to ginormous among the hardy waterlilies.

When well rooted and nourished a lily is going to start asserting its genetic ambitions.

Many hardy water lilies are going to be large, strong growing beasties dreaming of huge lakes to conquer... Needing to spread resplendant six feet wide in three feet deep of water

Regards, andy

That is very nice, love your fish. My lily flowers rise above water, but not the leaves. I keep them in around 2 feet plus depth of water.

Guess they are reaching for the sun. I have never noticed mine doing that. Yours looks healthy and I wouldn't worry about it and your video was nice!

Thanks guys, My Wife and I have put a lot of work into it this Spring so I think I can finally relax and enjoy it for a little while!

The pond is just about 2 feet deep now but last year it was only around 14 inches because we had over 20 inches of rain two days after installing the liner and the walls did a mudslide But the lillies didn't leave the water last year with it being that shallow.

Also I can't think who it was but whoever posted about using a dustpan for a weir but big thanks! The waterfall on the left side of the lower pond was driving me crazy trying to figure out what to use.

Thanks so far the dustpan is holding up fine with no water loss. I bought some stuff called Rock-on-a-Roll that's flexible rock liner and looks like it will work to cover the lip edge to hide the rubber and it says it's fish safe.

I was curious if anyone from here had used rock on a roll before, I don't even remember how I found out about it now.

I just used a strip of it with some aquarium sealant and some pond pebbles to hide the lip over the falls and put some at the back to hide the liner. I don't know why they make the falls part so big and unnatural looking on those preformed waterfalls but I think I have it all hidden. This is the before and after pics.

OMG I must think like you!!! I got the same bench!!!! I got two too!!! How weird is that!!! Mines red and their in different spots.

Very cool! Did you just use concrete paint? We have a red theme going in our yard so that one would fit perfectly.

I'm a little OCD about things being symmetrical, also why I have a waterfall at both sides of the pond  it started on just the right side and I couldn't take it.
