Pond vacuum recommendations please

hi,

My water pump is getting caked up with this algae sludge and thinking best way rather than getting it out Nd washing it down each week is to buy a vacuum. This I think would disturb things less, my fish hate me!! Always hide when I come near the Pond!

Had. Quick look and they are very expensive so wondering if one for less than a hundred would be OK?

Just a heads up. I once used my shop vac to clear the bottom of my pond. It's a bit of a process but works pretty well. You have to start with an empty hopper then get the suction going afyer the water gets above the drain plug in the side by a few inches yiu remove the drain plug and it will continuously drain and vac at same time. I know I know,,,,,,,,, ,it worked though! !!
