Guys,
I want to do a nice pond in the backyard. I have attached the backyard layout with dimensions and am looking for your input/thoughts.
I want to do 3' min and maybe 4.5' deep. Will be using a rubbermaid 150 trough as the waterfall/filter as well as one or two 55 barrels for filtration.
maybe in the 2-2.5k gallon range. I want it to be in the best viewing spot, also safe for the kids.

Best viewing spot would be where you can see it from the deck, or from the house. Pick where you spend a lot of time.

Kid safe? the only thing that makes a pond kid safe is a fence.

when digging you will be leveling the pond, so the pitch can be dwelt with.

How big are you thinking? also to make it a little more kid safe, have a walk out area, so if one falls in they can get out. One end of my pond is a shallow walk out area for any critters that fall in.

anyone have it next to a deck?
was thinking maybe 14 or 16' by 6 to 7 wide

Our stream starts at the deck with a small pond, then it heads down hill. By the deck would be great, just make sure any run off ie extra water will head away from the house.
