Hi everyone. I am building a wildlife pond which is a little over 1m squared and about 40cm deep. The thing is, it’s on quite a steep slope. There is a slightly flatter area where the grass is worn (half way up the hill towards the wooden hanging bird table) so I was thinking maybe there, or at the bottom of the slope, next to the metal bird bath. I’m concerned about run off going into the pond. No idea what I’m doing really. Where would you locate a pond and how would you deal with runoff please? And how hard would it be to create a stream? Would that help? I’m doing it all myself and on a tight budget!! Many thanks. Pics attached.

Mine is on a steep slope.
I dug down the up slope edge by 4 feet and built a 8 foot dirt berm on the down slope side to make a flat spot. The up slope side I made sure there was enough of a backwards slant to the slope to send water around the pond. Every rain storm I went out and checked the water flow, any that went down the slope I marked and made another berm to send the water somewhere else.

The stream, I made it a switch back stream, digging down the up slope side, building up the down slope side. Used a ton of rocks well more than a ton to cover up the dirt, make edges for the slope.
