pond liner

hi all can u help me with something when measuring a pond for liner with a step in it shud a just measure the deep-its part or shud a measure a bit more that needed on the deep-ist part ?

If in doubt, add a few feet! You'll definitely lose more liner stuffing it into a shelf than if there is no shelf.

We used the link addy refers to in order to get a rough estimate, then we went up another five feet just to make sure. We have a shelf in our new pond too.

ponds longest length + twice the deepest depth + 2 feet= length of liner
widest width of pond + twice the deepest depth + 2 feet = width of liner
heres the formula on a 10'x15'x 3' deep pond:
10' + 3' x 2 (6') +2' = 18'...minimum width
15' + 3'x 2 (6') + 2' = 23'...minimum length
so for example a 10' x 15' pond thats deepest area is 3' deep needs a liner thats 20' x 25' minimum, because they come in 5' increments
