Has any one used a old pond liner for under layment. My consern is what if water gets inbetween them will it bubble up or anything. What if I cut it in strips and overlapped the liner. Would that b ok.

I have not used it but cutting into strips or just using the liner as one piece but poke a ton of holes in it so it will drain the water. Lots of large holes you don't want it to retain any water.

You could always save the old liner for a stream or maybe another small pond or around your filters as a safety measure .Extra liner always comes in handy .I used all the salvaged pieces from my old liner and I only have one small piece left .You would be amazed at what you can use it for if you look around .
