Hi all,
We have a pond in the garden - it came with the house when we bought it 6 years ago. I may have posted about this pond here, some years back when I was seeking help.
We really struggle with it. We have fish which we've rehomed twice (about 18 at a time) but there are still a few in there that we can't seem to catch. So of course, nature takes it's course and we end up with many more as the year goes on.
There is a very large filter attached to the pond, it seems completely overkill. It's in an awful state and we really don't want the filter/pump there at all. BUT, we have fish. The pump actually died a few months back and now I'm spending so much time worrying if the fish are okay. The pump is still plugged in and something in the pond is vibrating, there is some sort of large filter in there that isn't doing it's job.
I have TOO many questions so I'm going to have to keep to one or two in this thread:
Do fish need filters/pumps? Can I just purchase and aerator? They look like goldfish, however some are black, some are mottled.
There are several plants in the pond which we put in (there weren't any when we moved in). We now have several newts, pond skaters and other lovely creatures. I love the fish, but I worry about them. I know the newts etc can live happily in there.
Please help! Thank you so much <3
