Due to my unique liner (a free standing pool) and my inexperience building a pond, I have a fair amount of liner showing on the pond side of my flat edging stone. What kind of fast growing plant could I put outside the edging stone to creep over the stone toward the water and cover the exposed liner? I am in New Jersey climate. Looking for a fast growing low plant or vine, I don''t care if it grows into the water a little. I have some ivy, but it grows too slowly.

I can't add more water because I used a free standing pool as a a liner, in order to get the pool to conform to the hole I had, I had to cut slits down from the top of the pool edge to allow the liner to flare out to meet the hole. So the elevation of the slits controls my maximum water elevation. I am up to the slits now. Its a little hard to see in the pic because I painted the blue liner black.

Here are of some plants around our pond. I don't know the names of the plants, but this will give you an idea of what you can do. I removed the rocks where I want'ed to place the plants. The flowering plants are annuals so they will have to be replaced next year.

koiguy - some funds and a lot of work.

I had the chance to see his pond while picking up some rocks he was getting rid of. The pictures do not do it justice. It looks as if it has been there since a spring created it. Beautiful waterfalls and stream coming down the hill into a crystal clear pond, with very nice koi

Great job Fish

If evergreen- Look at Blue Shore Juniper. Retains an attractive blue color, grows only a foot tall and spreads 8 feet! It is often used around ponds and waterfalls as its appearance mimics the flow of water over rocks.

If perrenial, check out:

Forget-me-nots- My absolute favorite. It spreads nicely in your zone and will flower blue all summer.

Water mint - Faster spreader I have ever experienced. If you have ground to cover and you like the smell of mint, you will love this.

Both the forget me not and water mint, by the way, will have no problem spreading into your pond and thriving underwater as well. My fish love to eat the forget me not.

That pond is just amazing. So very pretty and natural looking. I love that forget me nots.
Water mint is that planted in a pot in the pond or on the outside. I think I have some mint but it is in a floating basket. (not gonna spread like that)
