I built my bog garden waterfall using the PVC with slots. It doesn't come out of the slots right, it's shooting up from the clean out pipe. I constantly have to unclog the clean out pipe. Can I use the bog without the pipes? It's draining down the waterfall correctly

Need more info. How is water shooting out of the clean out pipe?

Do you not have a cap on the clean out? You need one if not.

How is it shooting out if it is clogged?

Where is your pump located and how are you pre-filtering?

The bog won’t function without sending the water through the pvc on bottom. If it just comes out the clean out and goes over the waterfall, then you’re essentially bypassing your bog.

Do you have any photos of your bog construction?

Hose is attached to the 2 in PVC under gravel, slots are cut in the pipe. Elbow at end with clean out pipe with cap sticking up . The water is still circulating the bog and running out the waterfall to the pond. I've got it all hooked up the way addy explained it. My question was do I have to use the PVC drain pipe

What is the "PVC drain pipe"? Does PVC drain pipe = clean out pipe? So the water pressure is popping the cap off of your clean out pipe and then shooting out of the clean out? If that's the case, I'd try adding a threaded fitting to the end of the clean out pipe and using a threaded cap.

Glue this to your clean out pipe (PVC male adapter):

And then cap it with this:

In any case, if the water is not coming out of the clean out and it is going down the waterfall, then your slotted pvc is working and the bog should function properly.

as CW shows/says; cap off the upright cleanout stacks with a screw cap and the water will be forced out the slits and up then, through your bog stone. You DID use round stone/river stone in your bog, right? Not anything sharp edged. Can you outline exactly how you made your bog, i.e. materials, thicknesses, depths.

How often did you cut a slit every 4" -6"?
are the slits 1/3 of the pipe or just an inch long or something.?
How many gph are you pushing with your pump

Like cw. said you must have caps on clean out he has shown you threaded caps which would be best
