If I cut back my Parrot's Feather now, will it produce new growth?

My Parrot's Feather has gotten pretty long and leggy. If I cut it back just under the water level, will it grow back?

Indeed it will.

An alternative idea: when mine gets all long and gnarly I get in the pond and start twisting it back on itself. I create loops out of the parts that are just stems and then pull the leafy part up through the loops to hold it all together. I know that sounds weird, but in reality it kind of tames the whole mass and then all you can see are the nice feathery parts poking up out of the water. Then in fall I cut the whole thing back and remove it.

I've always just broken off the growing tips, tossed them back in, and pulled out the long dead-looking stems.
