Our ponds are stream fed....
When life gets really cold and waters start freezing, we'll divert our stream away from the ponds because I have not found a way to effectively keep the exisiting overflow system from freezing up...
What I currently use is a 4" piece of PVC that vertically comes up from the bottom of the pond into a 4" T... From there it goes out about 2 ft. left & right of the T with perforated 4" PVC.... It works great when the waters are open as I have a lot of control as to what height I keep the water at... Winters are another story...
Any ideas???
TIA

The fish farmers around here have a vertical stand pipe on the out side of the pond at the level they want the water,,as the pond fills it over flows out the top of the stand pipe, they are drawing water out a little deeper and with the constant flow it might keep it from freezing....
