So not much to look at ... Hubby drew something rough with a garden hose earlier today (really rough, the hose wasnt long enough to outline a pond, walkway and bed) .... Not much to look at, but with him explaining, I "got it" ...

Then he decided he wanted to do a ROUGH DIG ... note it is VERY rough .. He was out of diesel in the Cat, and had maybe 20 minutes to empty LOL. The only thing these pics are good for is a ballpark idea ... the pond wont be as deep as it looks ... he left a high berm on the left so not to make a huge mess (will need a retaining wall, boulders, on that side due to grade changes)...

So this is the view from the patio ... where you see the flap of excess liner from the other pond, the skippy style filter is going right there (will later give a look of being connected to the main pond, but not) ... Skippy to be a waterfall ... all of the dark soil will be waterfall/mini river area (dug wider for work space) .. where you see the little threadleaf maple and golden mop cypress ... below them is just enough room for a small (30") bed along the boulders and then a walking path between a bed and the new pond ... a bridge will go over the end of the "river" (where the 2 soil colors meet) towards the flat rock (not in exactly the right place yet) ...

This is just a picture from the opposite end ... the big flat rock near where the bridge will come across is a step to get to the current main pond ... again, not exactly in the right spot ... the bigger, roundish rock behind it isnt supposed to be there, just where it got set down LOL. Up next to the main pond, there is a square-ish rock sitting there (temp chair LOL) .. going to be a sitting area over there ...

Anyways ... a lot of work needs to be done, and it will be SLOW going ... our beach sand dirt doesnt burp up many rocks, so have to BUY them ... will hold out for awhile in hopes of finding more free rocks... Not raining anymore, so hubby decided to go back out to work on rocks around the current pond (one whole side is lacking rocks), so he can at least set a final grade around the main pond:) (WHICH MEANS MORE ROOM TO PLANT!!!)

Very good start CW and it is going to be fun watching you finish it! We have sandy soil here also w/ not many rocks but I manage to find them on my walks and lots of them down at the beach on Puget Sound in many nice colors. Need to get some soon. Always room for more rocks!

We have streams, down at the bottom of steep poison ivy covered hills................. The dry stream in our woods was running like a roaring river after that rain today. I could hear it, not see it. Would love to walk down to it, just can't

Thanks Addy:)

Years ago, people used to PAY us to take rocks away ... now if someone has a bunch of rocks, they wont let us "haul them away FREE" ... for whatever reason, people are keeping them. He just came in a few minutes ago ... he got the rest of the rocks around the main pond. A lot of them are not exactly choice rocks, but it does the job and either plants will hide them, or we can swap them out later. He also left lots of holes to stick plants:)

Thats why I hunt for rocks before it starts to grow .
I get poison ivy even in the winter, from the dead leaves and stems. It is thick down there, grows up the trees

CW - Looks great. It is going to be so nice when finished.

We used to drive around and pick up stone from the state lands. Most of our rock came from friends that have a house on some acreage on top of one of the hills. Take a drive though - you never know.

Wish I had a bob cat I know it makes life and saves the back.

Ruben
He had a 763 Bobcat which really was a nice machine, but wanted something bigger, and a Bobcat just cant do SOME things:) Here;s our Cat ... it had already rescued this camp from the threat of high water, and was lifting it to put a sled under it (then moved it 150' inland from high water).

There's construction going on a couple miles from here .. they have a massive pile of rocks on the side of the road to put in a rock retaining wall ... we keep wondering if anyone would notice a 10 wheeler and machine loading rocks, say about 2 am or so ....
