I'm glad to find this group forum - I'm new to this Koi pond business and can use your help. I have a new pond 10x9x2 with waterfall aeration.

I've done a ton of reading and have had discussions about the pond and my koi with some locals, I've been checking the chemical balance of the pond and all of the levels seem to be in line (ph, nitrates, ammonia). i had some applied some AlgaeFix last Wednesday. I have three comets and six koi in the pond, all the fish are active.

Today I found one of the koi belly up in the pond, there seems to be two "raw" spots above the nostrils. No other spots - no ick, etc. The koi was eating yesterday and swimming around with no problem. There was some blood on the fish along with spots above his nostrils. ( it's in the fridge and I might take it over to where I bought the fish so they could get a look at it)

Anything from your experience that jumps out at you? Thanks for any insights.

This is most probably a areomonas infection you'll need to take a sample to send to the vet to see if its either gram positive or gram negative to be able to treat this, question has this afflicted any of your other fish ?

The reason for this test is you need to know what antibiotic to treat your fish with.
