Got home today & missing a small koi. Got back from dinner & found a 4 ft water snake in my pond w a frog in his mouth.

Think I know where my fish went, had him twice & he got into some rocks. He'll be back shortly and I'll be waiting.

I get little garden snakes too, and they eat the odd small fish, not too much can be done except try to catch him and then release him miles away. They can be very sneaky and hide well, and hard to catch too. Get a "Road Runner" cause I hear they eat snakes....

It's a northern water snake. Pretty common in Illinois. He must have decided enough was enough last night and didn't come back out. He'll be back today I bet. I'll get a pic next time I see it, right before he gets removed.

Pretty snake. We have only the little garden snakes here. No poisonous ones here thank Heaven! I wonder if the garden snakes eat fish?
