Not for Ponds Pump?

I’ve had this pump for my pool. It pumps out water fast. If I ever need to drain out my pond I was thinking of buying this pump again. Bummer is I left the pump at my old house for the new owners. They they took down the pool. anyway, would this be suitable to empty out a pond? It says it’s not suitable for pond usage?

From what I can tell, the reason it's not suitable for ponds is that it is oil cooled. If you were using it as a pond pump, and it failed, the oil that would be released could/would hurt your fish. I've had Little Giant pumps fail which were cooled with 'fish safe' oil, and even though it "technically" didn't hurt anything/anyone - what a friggin' mess!
Anyway, if you're only looking for a pump to do a quick removal of water (not continuous use) I'd think this one should be OK. (but I admit to being no expert on pumps...)

It has oil in it, so it’s not meant for continuous use in ponds but to drain a pond I would use it. Have Used that exact pump at work to pump out bilges in boats and barges, works pretty well, even when it is abused, which it is in my line of work.

I suppose the question should be asked, do you have a fish pond/water garden? If so, I agree with the above. The advertisement post says it is not pond safe. It's very clear, no ambiguity there. But, scroll down in your advertisement and you will find one of a plethora of pond-safe pumps. Stick with a pond safe pump and you won't go wrong.

I loved that pump. but it sounds like a good idea what your saying. It would just be used to pump it out to clean.

my water pump went in the washing machine once, that pump emptied it in like 5 min so I could lay it on it’s back and replace the water pump.

I scrolled down and all I saw were oiled cooled. This one doesnt say it is. It’s cheaper too. What do you guys think?

We have a similar pump and it comes in very handy for the exact reason you say. Ours is oil cooled I believe, but we've never had an issue with it - we only use it for short periods of time.
