Newbie Researching Fish Varieties

Hello All,
I am researching recommendations for varieties to stock in a 4,000 gallon plus concrete smooth walled pond I have. I also have a 15,000 gallon rock pond that I keep butterfly koi in so I would like something smaller for the “little pond”. I have a few Shubunkin (2) in it and would love to have some fancier tailed “showstoppers” along with them. I have been researching Watonai and would like to add them. I live in Western North Carolina so our winters are mild, but we do have some below freezing days. The pond has a large waterfall and multiple smoothed wall shelves for hiding as well as I keep it netted. Anyone with any recommendations and advice on breeds and trusted breeders would really be appreciated!

Hello from another Western North Carolinian! Where are you located? We're up in the NW corner in Wilkes county.

I, too, would love to see pictures of your ponds. I don't have goldfish (well, other than the two still in the pond who have evaded my capture attempts! lol) but I've ordered fish from Blackwater Creek in the past & been happy with them.

I am actually in Hendersonville just outside of Asheville. I posted some pics in response to another person below.
I ordered several of my Butterfly Koi from Blackwater Creek and had a great experience. Would happily order from them again! I had tried to order Watonai from them but they are always sold out even though I have been diligent in checking their site!

Wow! What a gorgeous pond & setting. Did you build that? or have someone do it? And, if the latter - who did you use? We had a difficult time finding a good contractor up here & if we ever need to make improvements/upgrades, I'll be looking for someone new.

Thank you so much. No way we built this all ourselves, unless you mean did we have it all put in? Then the answer is yes. It’s been a 4 year long journey but it’s been well worth it! When we bought this horse farm there wasn’t a single plant here. That Doberman is a Grand Champion and he loves watching the fish, he is fascinated with them! . I don’t know why he looks so big in that picture, maybe the angle? Lol (I say this about pictures of myself!) We breed and show Dobermans and Siamese cats.
What is your pond like? Do you have any pictures? How many gallons and how many/kind of fish? Is there any advice you would kindly share with a “newbie”?

Thank you so much! We had two contractors build them for us. The “little pond” was build by Southwinds in Hendersonville (they did all the hardscape) and the larger pond was built by Waterdance. Waterdance services my ponds bi-monthly and is my go to people for fish problems and pond repair. Who built yours and what is it like? Would love any advice you could share!
