well we moved the fish into the raised pond yesterday ..was done a bit sooner than i would have liked, but weather has been much warmer and i needed to get all last years fry out and rehomed a friend has taken them there were almost a hundred in there and were growing fast, other fish had to be moved in one go as i needed the pump in my new raised pond, fish all seem ok, i fed them a small amount this morning as they were going mad for food, have a new filter a drum, put some of the media from my old filter in it, my question is how long before the bacteria starts and should i do small water changes to keep amonia down, i am really worried that the fish will become ill, is there anything else i can do that might help them ?

as far as the zeolite..the more the merrier.. put it in a mesh basket at the point your water hits the waters surface returning from the filter. every 2 weeks put it in a bucket of a strong salt water solution over night(24 hours) rinse it and its rejuvenated..the salt draws out the ammonia that was absorbed.
