I'm new here. But, i've always wanted a pond in my backyard, so i'm gonna do it. But, i have a couple questions about how i want to do it.

So, I have a 20 foot long shed that runs about 4 feet away from a fence line, behind the shed is about 12'x20', in front of the shed there is about an 8'x8' area. Obviously i want the pond in an area that I can sit and watch for hours. I could do the whole thing behind the shed, but the wife says she wants the water feature in front of the shed to be visible from the porch...

Basically what i thought of doing is a larger pond area behind the shed, with a channel running between the fence and the shed coming to the front of the shed where the water feature would be.

Would doing it that way even be possible?
Would the channel be too narrow?
Should i give my wife a water feature with no fish, and just do the fish pond behind the shed?

Any advice, ideas or input would be very helpful!
Thank you!

Move the shed! You could do the pond behind and run around the shed have another pond in front of the shed, with a nice waterfall. Nice amount of water for your fish.

Welcome to our group of pond lovers.

I would want to be able to see the whole thing easily in a nice comfy spot instead of some hidden in back. Maybe a photo of what you are talking about would be good. Take one of your whole yard and oh a pond does not have to be in the back yard. Mine is in front of my house.
