well about to embark on building a new pond at my new place...bigger and not preformed so this should be interesting. I also have unearthed a oh 10' x 4' about 2 ' deep horseshoe old concrete pond which I will somehow incorporate into the new pond as a sort of backwater part..after I break out at least a 2' section of it to join it when I dig out the new one...this should be fun!!! oh hands here we go again! lol wish me luck!

well have concluded this is the shape it will be, as the new pond will join with the ol cement pond which will be lined to make a larger pond combined. The new pond is 13'x9' and I will have a depth of 3' in one spot (about 5'x6') for the fish kids. The older pond that I dug up and found in back is roughly another 14 feet long by about 4' wide and we think about 2' deep.
Am thinking about making my waterfall a duel waterfall so each side has it's own pump but somehow make it look like one nice long waterfall sort of heading in differing directions towards each pond. Had to work on the garden and mow today and this is as far as we got. Hopefully start digging some tmrw depending on the rain which is suppose to occur again.
Man I'm gonna have to go rock hunting!!!

I like the shape of the old pond makes it look like it has an island in it ..Kidney shaped ponds I saw on you tube are the hardest to put liners in ,I guess it must be from trying to hide the folds

well my son did alot of digging and got a good start as it was 95 and hot today...then his friend came and helped for abit, but it's friday eve now and they decided they were going jetsking with a friend for awhile. Cant say as I blame them and I see a storm front is heading our way in another few hours so probably good to just stop where they did for the day. Although my son got a little zelous in throwing the dirt towards where the waterfall will be...lol. It's a wreck, but a start anyway (and yes we still have the fence to put up yet too)

ok everyone how hard is it to join two liners together, since I wasnt going to incorporate the old pond in and bought a 20x20 liner and figured what the heck and am going to include the old pond. What is a good sealer to join two liners together? Pros/cons?

remember to raise your sides up for flooding rains .I can only dream of dirt like that and great place for your filter since the stump helps build it up naturally .Thats a nice yard also .You are getting some hot temps as we have been in the mid to high 80's .Tell them it is a free gym membership ' :cheerful:

I kept telling him to start throwing dirt the other way yet we do have alot of digging to do yet. There will be a fence going behind the pond (in fact the whole yard which we haven't gotten to yet) and thinking we best put some sort of retaining wall behind the falls. I'm glad we have great dirt too! We know we have to raise the back older ponds sides since it slopes that way to get an even pond level and am sure it'll be fun planting things to offset the look so it looks natural (sorta). Oh my word I have so many ideas....I would like to make two waterfalls (one hading to each pond) and am still pondering on that one...that or one large waterfall that drifts off into each pond...decisions decisions... :D
