Hello everyone. I am new to keeping a pond, but very familiar with aquariums. I recently installed my pond myself and I'm in the process of beautification. So far so good, I just added some goldfish yesterday after letting it run for about 2 weeks. Most of my supplies came from my girlfriends mothers home, where I found a pump, filter, tubing, and two small preformed inserts. From there I dug the main "pond" part myself, about 26" deep, lined it with 6 shower curtain liners, a large blowup children's pool over those (not blown up of course), and then 3 layers of an old pool cover I found as well. It's holding water great. The pump carries water from there up to a waterfall that flows into the larger of the preformed areas, then flows down the cascading waterfall. Any ideas, suggestions???

I read on this forum that pool liners have a chemical on them that kills the fish. They posted that theirs were dead within a day. Sounds like you have made it through the first 24 hours with no fatalities. Hope it works well for you. Welcome aboard!
