If you put in more than the amount recommended it will foam up, so be sure that you calculate your gallons carefully. When I used to use it I always estimated 500 gallons less than what my pond was so as to not put into too much.

Hi Parker. Bubbles in a pond are called DOC's (Dissolved Organic Carbons) which means that there is too much protein in your pond water and if you make a one third water change from the bottom of the pond it will remove some of the toxins and possibly cut down on the toxins. It could be that your filter might need a backwashing to clean out the bio-media but if you have to clean your bio-media with a hose you will be destroying any good bacteria that is on the bio-media which is removing toxins from the water.
It could also have something to do with the type of food you are feeding and how often you feed.

Oh, before I forget, welcome to the group Parker you're going to love it here.

IMHO....DOCs or dissolved organic compounds can be dilluted by water changes. and a egg crate foam ultra fies filter can help with the cloudy or murky water as well. multiple smaller water changes are better than one large water change. it minimalizes changes in water chemistry and that reduces stress on the fish. for instance...2 - 25% water changes a day apart are better than 1 - 50%.

Hi Parker. I have also found that if you haven't backwashed your filter in a while, these Dissolved Organic Carbons will also appear. So, check out your bio-filter and see if it needs a cleaning. If you have a good bio-filter and are able to backwash, the bio-media you are using shouldn't have to be hosed off but if the filter you have has to be cleaned weekly or every other week or even monthly, especially if you have to hose the bio-media down, your bacteria won't survive on your bio-media and it will take another four to six weeks for colonies of good bacteria to be strong and large enough to start removing those toxins from the water.
