Hi All!
I am a new member, but not new to ponds. My dad had a pond when I was growing up on Long Island, so when my ex moved out of my NYC apartment 28 years ago (and took all the furniture), I built a 210-gallon pond with a waterfall in my living room. It's made of studs and plywood; the inside is coated with black fiberglass and the outside is covered with stone veneer. Lighting for plants is supplied by 2 Kessil grow lights, and filtration/aeration is handled by a Pondmaster 190 filter. It's stocked with fancy guppies, which show very nicely against the black bottom.
I have one problem that I have been unable to get around, which is why I went searching for a forum...how to get rid of detritus that collects on the bottom. Right now, I have been handling with water changes, but that is a lot of work for a guy with a bad back. Normally, I would just buy an aquarium vacuum, but the pond is only 8 inches deep, and all the aquarium vacs I have looked into need a minimum of 9 inches of water to work. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations that could help me...
Thanks for reading, and for any help you can provide!!
