Hi
My 5 new 2 year old Koi have not eaten since i put them in last Sunday.
Since then iv installed my UV bulb and its starting to clear the pond but they still just hide under an Iris plant the whole time. they don't seem to be scared of me as the plant they hide under is right at the front of the pond where i stand.
Are they just not used to there new home yet or is there something more serious?

It can take a while for them to get used to their new home. But you also said they are two years old, do you know what their diet was before, do you use a different food they are not used to,or do you feed more often than they are used to being fed?

Im using the food the guy i bought them off gave me (its expensive stuff). He told me he fed the 3 times a day.
Im only putting in a couple of small handfuls a day as they don't seem to be eating.

They have been uprooted from their home and are in new waters with no clue about what is going to pop up and have them for lunch. Give them some time to learn it is safe.

Then I would just chalk it up to them being skiddish for now, hopefully they will get acclimated to their new home soon. Don't worry about them starving, I'm sure they will eat off of plants and algae when you aren't looking.

Do they have other places to hide beside the plant? I put In some plastic flower pots on there sides for the fish to hide and feel safe. Maybe with more potential hiding spots they would be more comfortable moving about. Just a thought...
