Hi everybody!
Here after a whole while...enjoying my pond, much of that thanks to importants orientation tips of you all. Thanks.

This time just for sharing my experience with the new oct/23 generation. A mix, totally new for me, as follows:

Only mother: Wild Carp, about 12", unfortunately found dead early in the morning. See pictures.

Fathers:
- Some wild Carp, between 10" and 12"..
- 4 Shubunkin, about 6".
- 1 Golden sarasa, about 5".

Interesting to see how the size/color gen combination produced so many different looks.
Could you say, there are some black golden? among the dark-black (like the song) ones.

Lots of fun monitoring the development of each one. Some red/calico already the size of the father, others so small, etc

The pictures attached show the new generation only...all of them of one single mother !!

Thanks again and more that greatful for comments. I have another carp pregnant OMG!

loosing your larger fish is often a sign of lack of oxygen.

The fish schooling is a good sign of conditions but they need far less oxygen than do large fish. an air stone or surface agitation could be helpful

Yes, I had to implement a filter with water fall (small) for oxigenation too. I am going to post the filter in the DIY section. The problem was, this rainy season, more intensive than usual, maintained the water of the natural stream too brown and I couldn't use it for weeks! I normally use that water twice a week for recirculation and oxigenation.
I am testing the filtration now and hope to be less dependent of the stream in the future.

Thanks!

I have prepared a clip with some more detail about the crossing. Above all, the pregnancy, omg kind of a torture. I'd like to know if that is normal. Since Koi is more or less a carp...have you ever seen something similar?
I couldn't see the new generation until 3 months after the spawning, guess they were hiding/surviving from the big males. Most of them dark because they can better hide, and I have many possibilities in the wood, stones, cat tail plants, etc.

A LOT OF RAIN CAN DROP YOUR PH AND CRASH THE POND.

starting to use city water and not using dechlorinator can also spike the water.

We are facing the winter down here and I hope the young ones will be able to make it to the spring...time will tell.
The carp are already slowly going into hybernation mode, until mid september. The winter is early this year and looks to be a very cold one. The weather crazy as everywhere now!

Your large fish looks like it was egg bound or had a tumor. That swelling does not look like an oxygen or water chemistry problem. And the other fish are not seeming sick.

Absolutely. She was pretty strong and alive all the time, didn't look sick or weak until I found her dead. The spawning (and male agression?) might have happened the night before...
As you say, all other fish, big and small, look healthy to me. They have plenty of space and I am permanently watching for stress or lack of oxigen. My daily second cooffe bomb is at the pond, enjoying them. :)
Thanks for your comments.
