i went out and got 2 new fish today. To add to my lone survivor (1 of 2). The introduction seemed rocky. The current resident was chasing the 2 new fish around like he was establishing his side of the pond. Now I don't know much at all about Koi, is this normal? Will they eventually become 1 happy Koi family?

Hi Anthony. It sounds like a male chasing a couple females around. If that is so then it's natural because they would be exhibiting spawning behavior. It is that time of year!

Makes sense. I use to keep Bass in an indoor tank and the behavior was similar when I would have more then 1 bass together, minus the biting. Just worried it was aggressive behavior. They were better later, all 3 of them picking away at the algae.

Yes Anthony it is totally natural behavour however it can get quite brutal koi mating with severe damage often being caused o please be aware of that and be ready to help with the repairs so to speak my friend .
Try to get the mix of male to female just right, that way there is less in the way of stress caused to the females .
Happy spawning
