So what does everyone do with leaf nets. I’m thinking I will just put it over the pond at ground level. Does anyone else do this or do you suspend it above?

i HAVE A 12 FOOT WALL / net I pull across . You have to be careful if you have a stream the net could cause the water to back up and cause the pond to empty out ask me how i know?

This worked out pretty well last year so I think I'll repeat the effort. But I may keep it up a little longer this time.

Maybe not the best pictures…… TOP SHOT: We had a bad storm in June, so the netting was blown down and the frame with it — but it’s still there! Part of the back fence came down when power poles landed on it — but fortunately, it missed the “pond”. BOTTOM SHOT: is after I pulled the netting off. Frame is 4 lengths of PVC pipe, with a connector up top (though you can’t see it here….sorry). I used (I think) 1” PVC, but a larger diameter would be less wobbly.

That’s like a dome tent type situation. Good it’ idea. Thanks. Glad the fence etc. missed your pond.! I had the exact same thing happen a few years back a tree came down in a wind storm and landed on the fence taking a 10’ panel down with it. Missed my pond by about 6 feet.

Thanks for the input guys, I finally got my lead netting installed. I did it a bit early because I’m going away for a bit and with the weather these days WHO knows when the leaves will be falling, seen a few changing colours already and had a couple in the pond. Anyway, I went for a hybrid of the ideas you’ve all shared. I ordered the netting itself from Amazon and used a set of tent poles from a long gone old tent ( I knew those poles would come in handy since day… (much to my wife’s chagrin I kept them) lol who’s laughing now honey 😉. Anyway the pole is stuffed into the ground at one end and into the bog gravel at the other and weaved through the netting all the way along. Then I pulled the pole back towards the tree where I’d installed a hook for it to set in. It just slopes down to the ground on the other side of the pond. I figured the raccoons that visit the pond nightly to try their luck at fishing and rooting out my lilies would probably destroy my netting set up but so far so good. (Only been one night though) thanks for the ideas and here’s a pic

Very good and is that net really made from lead or am I misunderstanding something? Maybe you meant lead (sounds like leed) like take me by the hand and show me the way type of lead? :)

I just stretched the net across the swimmin' pond last year. And left the floaty things in the pond to help support it. Just today I had to vacuum out some leaves that came in from the recent rain. But more are falling. But not quite time to pull the net over it, as I still use the pond.
