My pump is rated at 2000 - 4000 GPH. I came across this filter #40 which is rated at 1500 GPH.
Will this pump damage this filter> Thanks

I never had luck with pressure filters ,I still have 2 in the basement that were useless on my 1500 gallon pond when I had it .Now I use them once in awhile in my stock tank that I put baby fish in to give away

from what i gathered (in the last fortnight)
your pump should be able to pump1and half to 2 times the water capacity of your pond to be adequate
and your filter will blow a gasket if its under rated for your pump,
as your pump is adjustable i would personaly turn it down to the required gph for your filters capacity
that said look up homemade filters or bogs
thats my 2 pence worth

The min.is 2000 gph. The filter is from Sicce. I saw a video that suggests making this By Pass. Haven't figured it out as yet.

It seems the same amount of water pressure is still going into the filter.

,but your filter is only rated for 1500g/ph,and your trying to pump 2000-4000g/ph that means 2 things
1 the pump is to strong for the filter or
2 the filter is to weak for the pump
either way there not compatible with each other
what size is your pond?

You could split the water coming from the pump and have some go to a waterfall, etc. Better to just be sure and get a pump to match the filter.

You could, but I think you'd be running the risk of not knowing exactly how much pressure is going where. Match your filter to your pump - no worries that way.

And @doobry - most will advice twice per hour.

Since this is a very expensive pump i would like to try to split the water.I have another waterfall filter.I could have some of the unfiltered water go to the large waterfall and some to the small one. Can someone sketch a diagram for me?

to turn do a pump is easy do an inline spitter on one of your hoses .I attached a clamp to my sump pump hose and put in pvc pipe and a T fitting and that helps aerate also
