Hello everyone,
I have a question,,I have a lined pond in my yard,,and discovered that we have on our property,,the whole yard is clay.
So for a test I dug near my pond in the back,,which is about 2 feet deep and 6' 4'.
I added water to the whole I dug and the water stayed halfway permanently. So I add more water each morning to top it off
and it stays! This pond I want to create is this,,,open one end of the pond (the end furthest from the drainage end where it drains into a stream)flatten and bury the liner under the clay,,and make the pond larger. If the water were to stay relatively full, I don't see why this wouldn't work. It's for ducks,so It's dirty and muddy all the time ,so I'm not worried about the murkiness. Let me know your input, and if anyone else has done something like this wih a natural clay pond.
The clay content in the earth is at probably 60% or more..
Thanks!
