Hi

I am new to this site. My pond is totally about 1000 gallons in size. It consists of 2 ponds . The upper pond has the main waterfall. It eventually flows into the lower pond, where I keep my fish, and is about about 18" deep. My equipment consists of a 1250 GPH Pump, a 2nd pump as a aerator(these are in the lower pond), and a bio filter .The bio filter is in between the pump and the main waterfall. I have maybe 10 goldfish in the lower pond. My pond is a cloudy green color. My question is: should I add any clarifier to it or should I let it filter itself out naturally ? I also add a dechlorinator to my pond when I do a water change or top off the pond

Cloudy green is algae, you don't say where you are from, your pond may just be getting going for the summer i.e. filter bacteria growing.

How old is the pond , if new let it cycle for a while and see if the biofilter "kicks in ". If it does not clear up we will need to look at other things , type of bio filter ,size of filter, media in filter , flow rate , hours of sun light , bio load , water quality , ect............

P.S. Wecome to the most laid back and helpful site I know of to get help.

Thank you everybody. My pond is about 3 years old,but I just had a major "dropsy" problem with it. I lost 3 goldfish.in about 3 days. I then did about a 25% water change and added some some Prime dechlorinator. I also tried using some Tetra Pond Clarifier to see if this would help clear the water. It cleared it for a while, but then it got cloudy green again. It gets probably about 10 -12 hours of sunlight. My Bio Filter is made by Sunterra. I am not sure of the size of it. I just checked my parameters recently they are ammonia close to 0,Nitrite 0,Nitrate 0,and PH 7.0.

Definitely algae. You could try an UV lamp to get rid of it, they are quite effective against floating algae (pea soup), however you risk getting string algae instead, unless you have enough plants.
