I went out last night, for no particular reason, to look at the fish and am glad I did. I noticed a big frog floating on the other side of the pond. I had ben seeing toads mating and laying their eggs and it was no problem but this big guy was much bigger than a toad and he was evidently not there to procreate. I didn't know much about frog dietary habits so I went back inside and quickly "Googled" it. Sure enough; billfrogs eat fish! So I got a net and managed to catch the elusive rascal and performed a little....ahem...dissection. Inside was my favorite Shubunkin goldfish and one of the copper/brown 'feeder' goldfish I had rescued from the pet store last Saturday night. Well, a lot of good it did for me to rescue the poor little guy just for him to end up frog food. Anyway, my son put the frog's legs in the freezer; He dined on my fish, and my son will dine on him.

Haha wow I have to say that is a shame but a cool story with the finding your fish inside and all. My neighbor put 6 huge bullfrogs into my pond once. He didn't realise it was a bad idea. Took me a couple days to get them all out. They were sure super cool but I didnt want them eating all my fish.

I wouldn't have minded the frog staying either, but two of the goldfish had come up short which made me more suspicious. I'm glad I went out there last night because I had no idea the thing was around. We live on a hillside almost half a mile from any natural bodies of water but with all the rain and flooding we've been having lately I suppose water creatures like frogs are on the move looking for new real estate. He probably wouldn't have gotten any of my koi, but evidently the shubunkin wasn't too large for him.

Nice! You do GREAT work BTW, I have seen a bunch of signs you have done for Tyndall AFB and other places around here. I work at (Soon to be Owner) Bay County Awards and Engraving here on 15th st. Just went to petsmart today to buy some more food, But I recommend Pet Super market for Shubunkins and Petsmart for Koi and other Goldfish. Cool to see someone on here so close :beerchug:
