Mullet in the pond

Good morning and hope the season agrees with all your ponds.

We have a pond of reasonable size maybe 4,000 litres. Inside is koi, goldfish, mossie eaters, frogs and we use the water to grow some plants and veggies in a small way.

But some years ago maybe 4 years we collected some fry from a blocked stream to the sea and slowly introduced them to the pond. Turns out they are/were mullet and one just passed about 45cm in length (due to a overheating of the UV system tripping the mains).

Does anyone else have mullet or similar or know how long they will survive.

Interesting. Had not heard of mullet in a pond before myself, but apparently not uncommon in coastal areas. This link mentions average life span of 5-8 years:

I didn't know there was a fish species called mullet. I thought this was going to be a joke about hair algae and how it looked or was trimmed.

I knew of the fish but when I Googled just mullet, I had to add fish to the parameters to avoid the hair results which were the first results.

Actually i used to catch them in the sea, harbours and brakish water of estuarys when fishing, but these were a small number that were stranded in a closed estuary 5m from the coast. I will try to upload the picture, but never really thought i could grow them with Koi, this is a fabulous world and so many new things.
