Malfunctioning pump

The pump in our pond less water feature will sometimes work well and later flow will be down to a trickle. Often after being unplugged for overnight flow will be restored. I se no debris in the well that would block the intake. Any suggestions?

there may be clogging with water getting TO your pump (debris IN your stone and when you allow the miniscule water flow to build up enough in the reservoir then it works for a bit) or debris AT the pump inlet/screen. I'd take the pump out and thoroughly clean if it needs it, then place the pump in a tub of water and verify it's working with clean, un-stone-screened water. If it works, then probably you have blockage in the pondless stone column.
