Lumps on koi

I had one fish that developed lumps on it’s body and, now, I have two. Should I remove them from the pond. The weather is getting colder. I live in Michigan, so my pond freezes over every year. I keep a small heater in there, in order to prevent a buildup of gasses. Will these lumps spread to the rest of my fish, and will the 2 that already have them make it through the winter? I believe this is Koi Pox.

This article gives a pretty good overview on koi pox. In the article are a few pictures, so you can see if they look similar to your fish.

Any pics?

my young chagoi got the waxy lumps starting last fall... he started with just a few on his sides but the come this spring they popped up on his upper lips, fins and more on his side... got bad. He didn’t slow down a bit though... and just last week it started disappearing. He only has a few faint areas left. I hasn’t “spread” to any others at this point

Koi pox isn't deadly. Just unsightly. If memory serves it's basically like herpes in a human - once you have it, you have it for life and can get flare ups of symptoms during times of stress. I think the fish that get it are genetically predisposed.
