This is how my lotus is looking like since I replanted it at the end of April, after noticing a small bit of the tuber rotting. I’m not sure what to make of its state, honestly looks like a mess. Mostly all leaves/stems are dying, and are either turning black or are covered in white specks. Previous Thread

That's how some of mine are looking right now. We have had several cold nights that really set them back.
Likewise. The weather over here only started to warm up to the 70s a couple of days ago. With how much of a mess it looks like with all the algae and rotting growth around the dead stems, I'm tempted to clean it up by dividing the tuber and getting rid of the unnecessary bulk. I'm also not sure what's causing the white powdery specks, if it's fungus growth or from adding a fertilizer tab when I replanted

You should never fertilize lotus until you get at least 3 leaves above the water. I would not mess with the plant anymore. If you can put the whole pot in a deeper container filled with water, that would be great. Other than that, just make sure its topped off with water and wait for warm weather.

I had read somewhere online that you should fertilize when replanting the tuber in spring, but I realized that I shouldn't have and will try to remove it. I bought this container the other day that is 21-inches high, will this work? I have a dwarf lotus if that makes any difference https://www.southernpatio.com/products/planters/hdr-004301p2-kittredge-2-pack-planters-burlwood/

Will the planter you have it in fit inside that new pot? You just need to keep several inches of water over the plant.

Yea it should fit inside the new pot. The one I currently have it in is only about 14-16 inches wide and less than a foot high. Would the 21-inch high pot be too large if I one day wanted to plant a lotus directly into it?

Don't think you can have a too large pot for lotus! Mine was in a 3 gallon pot and took over a 75 gallon preform!

Just dropped it in. A few months later I noticed it sending out tubers over the edge. Whole preform filled with lotus.
