Soo...i dug my pond deeper and wider and put underlayment down and then the rubber liner then it rained...alot, and then water got under liner and the bottom of liner floated to the top of the water level....the pond is on a slight hill and i get run off from the neighbors property but this never happened when i had the cheaper type liner that came from Lowes, if you know the type I'm talking about..so, any suggestions of what to do about this? very aggravating ...thanx!

Did you have the pond filled with water and this still happened? I have to use about 6-8 large rocks and place them strategically in the bottom of my pond to keep that from happening to mine. I also have some big water lillies that are heavy that help as well as a tree in a 10g pot that sits in the pond. Do you have clay soil that does not drain very well? My yard also gets a lot of run off and sits in a low spot in the yard.

Watch the next time it rains and see if you can find where the water is getting under the liner at. You could build up that edge of the liner to path the water around the pond.

if this happened with only a little water in the pond...you can buy a pump that a garden hose screws onto and runs on a drill motor....under $!0.00 at most hardware stores. ive used them before. push a hose down along the side of the liner and pump it out.

I kinda had that same issue when I was making my pond bigger this past week. I got the hole dug, had it all ready, put the liner in and started to fill it. I got half way done and saw that there was a rip in the liner right next to a seam from a sharp root that had cut thru my underlayment. I tried to patch it, but I didnt trust it just because of the location of the tear so I got a new liner. I placed the new liner right on top of the old one after making sure that the root in question was gone. I got as much water out as I could but there was still some left. I figured this would be a problem when I refilled again so I poked a few holes at the lowest point in a attempt to force the remaining water out with the pressure of the water from the new liner on top.

Thanks for replying..yes, it is alot of clay, especially after about 6 inches or so..it still hasnt dried up after several days of sunshine and poking holes in the ground. I guess it is saturated or sealed itself off. I had underlayment under the liner and wondered if that caused it but, not sure..the pond had about a foot and a half of water in it..Ive bought a new liner and waiting for the time to install it..I didnt have this problem with the cheap Lowes liner at all..aggravating.
