Anyone watching the garden nightmares programme on tv here in the UK? Two people lost nearly all their 20 year old koi in one night. Fish just dead in the pond and in the garden missing heads and posts of the body. No idea what it was, turned out otters climbing into the pond and having a picnic on the koi. Was literally fish in a barrel the otter had to put minimal effort in as the koi had nowhere to go.

Something you never think would go near your pond or have the ability to find it.

So sad for the fish and their owners.

Otters like to play and chasing fish is play to them.

Yeah it is, especially in such a small area. Must be so sad for the owner having to start again

Devistated to hear this. I know the feeling of panic you get get when you miss a fish over two feeding days, then the relief when it pops up. To lose this many fish is unthinkable.

So my first thought is that it was the show's producers trying to create drama and conflict.

Without mutilated fish the so would be a lot less interesting. I certainly wouldn't put it past TV folks to kill some koi to get higher ratings.

It was caught on cctv though, the only reason they knew it was an otter. But maybe it was just for tv
