Leaking pond

Hi there glad to join this group..Moved into forever home last year with good sized very overgrown wildlife pond. Now leaking .level dropping dramatically..Can I drain and just reline with liner ? Thank you

Just to say pond was so overgrown had to remove a lot of very tall plants with loads of roots.Am wondering if it was this action that could have damaged pond liner.Think liner is about 7 years old..

Welcome to the forum!

Very good chance the roots hurt the liner, or damaged in the process of removing.

You can drain and reline it

You can either remove the old liner or punch holes in it and leave and then put new liner over the old. Old liner will act as a protection for the new liner. You need the holes so water won't build up between the two liners.

If you want this to be a final pond then i would consider using concrete cloth around the top 3 feet of the pond chipmunks , moles, rats, racoons, and ground hogs won't be an issue from the outside
