personally i think they would be fine without feeding them at all for a week ive done it with mine many times and never had a casuality but they sure do chow down some food upon my return lol

I have to agree with dave on this they can do without food for a week nines out of ten they will eat your ponds algae.
Besides I've heard horror stories where the feeding mechinism goes wrong dumping the entire contents of the feeder into the pond
To me its not worth the risk of using something that may go terribly wrong at some stage in the future .

to tell you the whole truth i have 7 indoor fishtanks that i have kept for many many yrs all varieties of fish from pirahnas to arrowannas to oscars cichlids you name it ive prolly had it a one pt or another in my life including saltwater fish as well i have went many times even not feeding them for 2 to 3 days sometimes if i cant get to a pet store or what have you and none of them have ever starved to death eather im pretty sure but not possitive alot of wild fish often go days without eating just saying
