Oh my gosh, When I first read your post I *thought* you wrote a horse not a house lol

$30,000 would buy a pretty nice horse around here but no houses that I know of in that range.

lots of house here for less than that .I bought my sons has 2 years ago 5 thousand in Martinsville and the 12 acres and house out in Pittsville I bought for less than 28 thousand .I put just around 15 thousand into the 5 grand house and my sweat .

Sissy, That's awesome to be able to own a home for such a small amount of money. I would love to be able to have acreage but would never be able to afford it here.

property goes down here as jobs go down and places close .I have 3 acres here bought 12 years ago and back then it was worth more .I payed 5 thousand an acre and there are 3 separate lots .The lot my house is on taxes are more the other 2 lots only are only 34 dollars a year on taxes .I decided not to combine them since my house is set on view lots .At least that is what they call them .There is a farm in front and a farm behind my house .Now they have the lots here up for sale at 9 thousand an acre.My house and septic tank and well made it all come up to 89 thousand .
