Hello,
This spring, when my fish "work up" from hybernation; my one Koi emerged with a large, circular black spot on his site. It hasn't grown, but it hasn't deminished either. The spot may be convex; it's hard to tell; almost looks like it's a missing scale.
His behavior is fine. Eats a ton, has no trouble swimming, very active. All other fish seem healthy, no spots or signs of disease.
I've read about "black spot" disease which seems to be a parasite; I don't think this fits. Looks more like an injury (?) but, it isn't healing.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
To say I'm a newbie insults "newbies". I built the pond as a "water feature", never intending fish (yeah, weird, I know). But, two seasons ago, thought I'd add some. Added the one Japanese Koi and four fancy-tail goldfish to test out being a fish-owner. Now I have one huge Japanese Koi and somewhere around 20 fancy-tail goldfish (anyone want one!) Wow, do those goldfish breed fast!
